Urban Health Centers

In order to provide integrated and sustainable system for primary health care service delivery in the Urban slums with focus on poor women the urban Health Centers (UHC) have been established in the year 2002 and the second centre in the year 2007 in Tirupati, Andhra Pradesh. The UHCs serves the medical needs of women with focus on reproductive child health, antenatal, postnatal care and immunization. The centre provides support for development of a referral system for institutional deliveries, emergency obstetric care and terminal methods of family planning. RCH Services including medical & health of general urban slum population 60000 above.

The target group is women and infants living in the slums of the urban area. The project will have a hospital which will be managed by a medical officer, ANMs, Community Organizer and a Project Co-ordinator. Apart from treatment counseling will also be given to the community members who will formed into the urban health centre women committees. The two UHCs have been started in the years 2002 and 2007 respectively. These centers have been funded by the Department of Health & Family Welfare, Govt. of A.P.
